A typical code compliant assembly requires:
...that's a whole lot of dollars.
We decided that the industry could do better.
So we created a line of products designed to speed up the whole process, reduce overhead, and achieve the same or better fire rating compared to the industry standard.
Fire and sound rated drywall accessories install quickly, stand the test of time, and are practically foolproof. Each of the fire rated drywall accessories comes equipped with an unassuming strip of intumescent tape that, when exposed to heat, expand to 30 times its size, slamming the brakes on the spread of fire, smoke and sound.
These innovations in code compliance are changing the way drywall joints are being built. See below just how our customers are making use of this new technology for their assemblies and projects.

There's a lot to unpack about these cutting-edge code compliance solutions. Let's begin with the basics, with some of the questions we hear all the time.
FIRE BEAD IS THE BEST SOLUTION FOR:
• Bottom-wall and vertical joints in concrete assemblies (usually residential)
• Head-of-wall details that require less than 1/4" movement
• Installing post-drywall
HOTROD XL IS THE BEST SOLUTION FOR:
• Head-of-wall joints on pan/fluted deck or concrete assemblies, including uneven substrates
• Buildings that require more (3/4”) movement
• Installing post-drywall, or by applying to the drywall before hanging it
FIRE GASKET IS THE BEST SOLUTION FOR:
• Head-of-wall joints on pan/fluted deck assemblies (usually commercial), but can also be applied to concrete
• Buildings that require a lot (1” or 1.5”) of movement
• Installing pre-drywall, more quickly than other options
SOUND GASKET IS THE BEST SOLUTION FOR:
• Soundproofing (but not firestopping) head-of-wall joints on pan/fluted deck assemblies, but can also be applied to concrete
• Buildings that require a lot (1” or 1.5”) of movement
• Installing pre-drywall, more quickly than other options
FIRE RATED 093V EXPANSION BEAD IS THE BEST SOLUTION FOR:
• Control joints, in lieu of fire rated backing materials
Beyond keeping the inspectors happy, there are good reasons to place importance on keeping even the most minor of wall gaps compliant with building codes. If you’re in a 20’x20’x20’ room with only a pencil-sized gap in the wall, and there’s a fire in the next room over, it only takes 3 minutes and 40 seconds to fill the room with smoke to where you can’t see your hands in front of your face.
To ensure that these advanced firestopping solutions will effectively prevent the passage of smoke and fire, they have been extensively tested and listed by the authority in firestopping code, UL Standards. The testing includes opening the vinyl beads to their maximum allowable joint distance and placing them in a 1,800-degree oven, in addition to many other rigorous forms of assessments. Firestopping solutions for wall joints matter, and the approval of UL Standards for this line of fire rated drywall accessories allows customers to rest assured they have installed the best possible protection against the spread of fire.
Soundproofing was a huge consideration when these products were being designed. Aside from the Fire Rated 093V Expansion bead, which only applies to control joints, all the fire rated drywall accessories you see here provide the same — or better — STC sound ratings as acoustical caulk. Each of these products have been sound tested according to ASTM E90.
